Today and forever
Since our life belongs to God, all the works that we will do should be the result of God’s working in our life. He works in us and that is what makes us fit to what He will do through us. This is the reason why our lives should express the glory that is due Him. As the writer of Hebrews closes his letter, once again he reminds the readers that life is about Christ of today, risen and ascended. This is the whole theme of this letter, hence the emphasis in the benediction. Then, the writer mentioned about the release of Timothy from jail because of the gospel. The writer knew that mentioning about Timothy will provide additional encouragement to them because they had prayed for his release from prison. Now, Timothy has the opportunity to minister to them and to partner with the church as they serve God in spreading the gospel. The writer also reminded the readers to always look for opportunities to encourage their leaders as well as one another. It is always a good thing that believers continue to overflow with kindness and love shared among those who are in the body of Christ. Being part of the church provides opportunities to grow in serving one another. The grace of God continually working among them helps them live godly lives. It is always good to pray for one another asking God that His constant presence will be experienced by His children. We never know what tomorrow brings and how many tomorrows we will have, but let us be strengthened by the unchanging truths of God’s Word and the reality of His grace. In this way, no matter what challenges we will be facing, we will always have courage and hope and our lives will bring glory to His Name.
