Jars of clay

" For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ our Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ Jesus.' But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us." 2 Corinthians 4:5-7 There are times that we grapple to find answers to the questions; "Why we are doing what we are doing?" Or "What does God wants me to do with my life?" From the text, Paul provided answers to those questions. God made us so our lives could proclaim who He is. This is the responsibility we have when we came to know Him as Lord and Savior. Though God does not need our help in order for Him to accomplish His will, yet He granted us the opportunity and privilege to serve Him. He granted us eternal life and we have been given the right standing before Him because of our personal relationship with Him therefore we should not neglect to strive to live for His glory. Though we are jars of clay, flawed, fragile, and ordinary, yet God is using us to contain His treasures. The work of proclaiming Christ is challenging and difficult but we should not stop. We are not announcing bad news but we are proclaiming the Good News. Let us be careful that we do not make our names great but rather to make His name known. Giving our lives to serving God may at times seemed to be futile but just like what Paul said, "By the mercy of God, we do not lose heart." What we proclaim is Jesus Christ our Lord. This is what we know; God chose us so we could make His name known. "Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). Blessings, Now De Guzman www.my-wbc.com
