Finding God's way

Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love, which you have shown from long ages past. Psalm 25:4-6 Christians usually seek God’s will through prayer and through His word. From the text, this is what David was expressing when he was seeking God. His throne was threatened to be taken over by his own son, Absalom. He did not know what to do and he was overwhelmed by the circumstances he was dealing. In such situation, at times the tendency was to avail one’s own abilities and methods in finding solution to the problem but this was not the case with David. He expressed his desire by asking God to help him to be able to find the right road to take. He wanted God to lead him. Instead of asking God for His approval to his own scheme, he wanted God to lead him. For him, there was no other way to resolve his problem but God’s. This is why he sought God’s wisdom. He was asking God to help him that His word and teachings will guide him in his decision. Then, he demonstrated his willingness to wait for God’s answers. This is where most Christians fail. They will ask God but if God will not come forth immediately with His answer, they are not willing to wait and will take matters into their own hands. Because they are not willing to wait, they end up making the wrong decision. God did not promise that all our problems will be solved. If God will ask you to wait for His answer, learn how to be patient. Waiting on God is never a waste of time. David learned his lesson from not waiting on God when God rebuked him when he decided to move the Ark of the Covenant and not the Levites do it (see 1 Chronicles 14). Later on, he wanted to go ahead with his own plan of building a temple for the Ark of the Covenant. Again, God rebuked him for it is not him who will build it but his son, Solomon (see 1 Chronicles 17). David was resolved to wait on God’s will for he has proven that he can always count on God’s compassion and unfailing love. When you seek God’s will for your life and the circumstances you are dealing, God will bless you with His wisdom found in His word and His truth will guide you.

Blessings.
