Not settling for less
What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us... And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Romans 8:31-34, 38
Those who have trusted Jesus for their salvation through the sacrifice He accomplished on the cross, God already did the most difficult and costly display He could ever do to show how much He loves the world. “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” (Romans 5:8). In this way, fellowship with God for eternity was made possible. This also provided those that trusted Jesus in their lives to become a member of His family and joint-heirs with His Son, Jesus Christ. “And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory” (Romans 8:17). Consider the events in your life before you attain this state of belonging to God. Before you came to Him to trust Him you were living in sin, habitually choosing to rebel against God, and constantly giving in to sinful desires. “All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else” (Ephesians 2:3). Furthermore, you were in enmity with God (James 4:4). Outside of God’s mercy and love, there is nothing of worth in you that will make Him to offer you His life. Yet, He did! “God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead” (Ephesians 2:4-5). Since He already done the most difficult thing for you because of His great love, there is no reason for Him to withhold His love and continue to bless you. Just like what the Apostle Paul said from the text, “Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?” (Romans 8:32). God will not stop looking for opportunities where He wilHe will see to it that His best interests for you will be achieved. He will see that “all things work together for (our) good” (Romans 8:32). Then if this is the case, do not let yourself settle for less by not living your life in obedience to His will.
Blessings.
