God surely cares

Jesus was sleeping at the back of the boat with his head on a cushion. The disciples woke him up, shouting, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to drown?” When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?” Mark 4:38-40

Have you had that moment where you felt that God seemed to be ignoring your plea? You had this great problem and the only way you knew to come out of such situation is when God will pull through by answering your requests. Yet, He will not respond, so you thought. You should not doubt if He cares or not. Sure, He cares! “And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?” (Matthew 6:30) If there is no such clear reason as to why God seemed to be not answering, then perhaps He is testing your faith. This is clear with the case of Job. “But he knows where I am going. And when he tests me, I will come out as pure as gold” (Job 23:10). When Jesus sensed the unbelief from His disciples, He rebuked them in their lack of faith. When Lazarus got sick and later on died, Mary and Martha expressed their disappointment why Jesus did not come. Knowing that Jesus does miracles, Mary and Martha felt neglected by Jesus when He did not come in time. Jesus explained to them His delay. “Jesus responded, “Didn’t I tell you that you would see God’s glory if you believe?” (John 11:40) All these instances seemed to show the lack of care from Jesus. Can God not test the sincerity of your faith? When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, part of the prayer goes this way; “This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10). “Your will be done.” Those four words are the key that will help you in your struggle in facing God’s seeming unwillingness to answer some of your prayers. God is not a cosmic Santa Claus. Prayer is not you asking God for what you want, but His will superseding your will. The primary purpose of prayer is not to ask God to change your circumstances, but rather to change you by submitting yourself to God. Do not doubt that God does not care. Surely He cares. “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you” (1 Peter 5:7).
