May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 The Apostle Paul, from the text reiterated God’s plan to create in us a life worthy of His calling. It is a life characterized by godliness. He is resolute to the reality of this experience in a believer’s life not because he knew he could do it but God who promised to be faithful to all those who believed will do it. When God calls you to do something that you think is beyond your comprehension or something that does not make sense, all He wants from you is to trust and obey. He promised that He will enable you to do it. God in His nature is immutable; He does not change. At times, you will falter and become inconsistent with your faith but God will remain faithful. God will stand by on His word and His promises. “I have said what I would do, and I will do it” (Isaiah 46:11). What is it that God may have spoken to you lately that until now you continue to put off and is not willing to fulfill in your life? It might be a command that you do not want to obey, or a relationship that He wants you to be reconciled for His glory, or an opportunity to be a blessing with the people you work with, or a ministry that He wants you to be involved. Whatever it may be, you find yourself not obeying because you feel inadequate. Do not forget that the God who called you is faithful. The Bible is replete with examples of people that trusted God and found that He kept His promises to them. The psalmist declared, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread” (Psalm 37:23-25). Do not let your circumstances affect your perspective and doubt God’s faithfulness. Keep on trusting, keep on believing, and keep on following.
Blessings.
